Prevent Flipping Horizontal Photos

  • quentosity

    Been looking at previous topic about this and haven’t been able to find a solution but looks like you had a similar request that you helped someone with directly rather than posting solution in the thread http://themextemplates.com/forums/topic/profile-picture/

    Basically currently if someone uploads a photos of themselves from their phone that they took in landscape. Their image is auto cropped with them displays sideways or flipped. What I am wanting is that images can just be cropped without being flipped so landscape images display the correct way up.

    P.S If this is more WordPress Core not the theme directly doing but you know of a plugin that can correct this linking to that as a solution is also fine.

    Great thanks just getting our host to enable the php function for that solution to work now.

    Ok I have had the edit exif function enabled and tried multiple plugins but they don’t seem to be compatible with the themes frontend uploader like I can upload via the backend the same photos and they auto rotate them and the thumbnails correctly but when uploading from the profile page it skips the plugin. Anyway advice for solving this?

    Ok thanks email sent with the subject “Sideways image”. Forgot to add the plugin link which was https://wordpress.org/plugins/ios-images-fixer/

    Hello Ihor,
    I’m having a similar problem that quentosity seemed to have had.

    I’m using your latest version of the makery theme and the iOS Image Fixer plugin. However, when ios images are uploaded through the front-end they still aren’t being rotated correctly. Imagemagick is running on my host and the plugin can find and correct already uploaded images, it’s just not able to fix them on original upload.

    I saw you mention the code below. Do you think that will help my situation and if so, where should I add it? Guessing the line numbers may have changed since you helped him out.

    Code:
    if(class_exists(‘BAImageFixer’)) {
    $file=BAImageFixer::imf_exif_rotate($file);
    }

    Thanks,
    Chris

    I added it there but nothing happened and not sure it was the right line. This is what the code looks like now.

    foreach($exts as $ext) {
    $exts[]=strtolower($ext);
    $exts[]=strtoupper($ext);
    }

    793==> if(!empty($file[‘name’])) {

    if(class_exists(‘BAImageFixer’)) {
    $file=BAImageFixer::imf_exif_rotate($file);
    }

    $fileid=1;
    $fileids=get_posts(array(
    ‘post_type’ => ‘attachment’,
    ‘numberposts’ => 1,
    ‘fields’ => ‘ids’,
    ));

    Any other suggestions? Thanks
