Is Academy theme updated to support individual courses AND courses in plans?

  • darcn

    Hi,

3 years ago someone from this support forum brought up a limitation with the Academy theme where we can’t have individual products and individual products part of a plan. I think that was version 2.15 which is what I have.

Here is the link for what they posted at the time:

After three years, is the current version of the Academy updated to support doing individual products AND products in a plan which is a common feature in most LMS today?

Waiting for your reply, so I can purchase the updated version of the Academy theme I have.

    Thank you!

Ugh, what is the workaround of duplicating courses without having duplicate courses appear on the website? I don’t want to have two (or more) of the same courses listed on the Courses page. That will make things too cluttered and confusing for the customer.

The courses page should ONLY list the individual course including a user searching for a course. And not seeing three courses of the same thing.

I really like this theme so I really want to make this work. Please advise how this can work with the Academy theme?

    Thanks!

I figured out how to create duplicate courses and hide them on the website. But if someone has hundreds of courses w/ lessons this creates a lot of unnecessary work for the content creators. However, I did discover that a user can access a course that is added for them individually and what when that same course is added to a plan.

My question is, for an individual course when they click on the “Take this Course” button what is the URL format for that request, so I can create my own custom BUY NOW buttons?

    Thanks!

I figured out how to do what I asked in my last request. So, I have two additional questions which I might post as separate requests if needed. Here they are:

    1) Are there are any recommended WordPress plugins I can use for duplicating (or creating a copy) for a course and lesson?

    2) Is there a way for the user to register/create an account on the checkout page?

    Thanks!

Ihor, this ability to support both single and plan access for a single course would be a great update. Add in a concept of Chapters to go with Courses and Lessons as an organising structure, and the ability to have shared Lessons, with most content being the same but some depending on which Course or Chapter the shared lesson is being referenced from, and you have something approaching an Academy Pro, and I for one would purchase in a heartbeat, and for a much higher price than Academy cost. Just a thought/hope. 😉

Failing an Academy Pro as a product, I would be interested in discussing just how much work would be involved to create it and buying your time directly, assuming you do consulting like that. But a maintained product rather than a custom theme that I then have to manually maintain against the updated Academy Theme code base is not ideal.

Ihor, I figured this would break Academy theme without a lot of work, thus my thought that a new product with a higher price might make it worth the effort. If 80% of the new Framework could be shared, the new features added, then both maintained with lots of overlap seems ideal, but perhaps impossible. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that others express some interest in an even more capable Academy theme and eventually the numbers start to make sense. 😉
